Have you ever said, It’s complicated as a reason for not making the changes you say you want in your life?

  • Your work situation is complicated.
  • Or your marriage.
  • Your financial situation.
  • Or your relationship with your parents or kids.

Complication can become a kind of hiding place.

Sometimes we let life stay tangled because that noise and friction keep us from hearing our inner guidance—that quiet voice pointing toward what would feel better, clearer, lighter.

And while it may be true that life is complicated—and even your life in particular—that’s not the end of the story.

In fact, it’s just the beginning. And what comes next doesn’t need to be some grand sweeping gesture.

How about a single, small step instead? Here are 4 to choose from:

1. De-commit from something.

Choose one obligation that drains you—something that weighs on you every time you see it on your calendar or To Do list.

I’m not saying abandon all your responsibilities. But many of those draining obligations? They’re self-imposed.

Let enough be enough.

2. Let go of “just in case” clutter.

That drawer full of cords. The jeans you might fit into. The stacks of digital files you keep meaning to organize.

Clutter—physical or digital—creates drag. It stirs up cortisol, steals your attention, and clogs your energy.

Rather than organizing clutter, release it. That space you clear? It’s not just visual—it’s vibrational.

3. Drop one belief about who you need to be.

There’s an old Chinese proverb that says: Tension is who you think you should be. Relaxation is who you are.

For instance, I used to think I needed to be someone who loves to entertain. I’m just not.

Letting go of that belief—and all the expectations around it—instantly simplified my life and gave me back a chunk of energy I hadn’t realized I was leaking.

4. Step out of the drama loop.

If your life feels like a constant stream of overreactions, it might be time to shift the channel.

Blowing small things out of proportion—like a barista getting your drink wrong—turns moments into melodrama.

And the retelling, reliving, and replaying keeps you in that low-vibe loop.

The opposite of drama isn’t boring—it’s serenity.

Which of these 4 steps will you take today?

Each one is a small move toward clarity, calm, and alignment.
Because when you clear what complicates, you create space for what truly supports your energy.
