Abundance & Well-Being: finances

What is the story you tell about your finances? What are the things you say about money? What are your thoughts about abundance?

  • Do you tell a story of scarcity, of lack, of not enoughness?
  • Do you talk about what you can’t afford or how expensive things are?
  • Do you think money is hard to come by or you have to work really hard to earn money?
  • Do you look at your bank statement and tell a story about what-is that causes you to feel worry or fear?

What I’m really asking is whether you need to tell a new story about your finances?

Many of us would benefit from doing just that.

“Many people protest when we explain to them the power of telling the story of their finances as they want it to be rather than as it is, because they believe that they should be factual about what is happening. But if you continue to look at lackful what-is and speak of what-is, you will not find the improvement that you desire. If you want to effect substantial change in your life experience, you must think thoughts that feel different as you think them.” —Abraham

There is so much valuable wisdom packed in this quote. Let’s take it one wise nugget at a time.

“Many people protest when we explain to them the power of telling the story of their finances as they want it to be rather than as it is, because they believe that they should be factual about what is happening.”

Too many of us are being factual about all things money-related. We are being reliable narrators and focusing our attention on the facts as they are today.

I didn’t get the raise. My investments have lost money. I only have X dollars in my savings account. I’m carrying such-and-such balance on my credit cards. I can’t afford a new car. I only make enough money to pay my bills each month.

Those are the facts. So whenever the subject of finances comes up in your mind, you fall back on the facts. You start with the facts. You focus on the facts. You tell the story of your finances with the facts.

However, and here’s what’s really important: If the facts are not as you want, then you want to get your focus off the facts.

That’s because, as the quote goes on to say…

“If you continue to look at lackful what-is and speak of what-is, you will not find the improvement that you desire.”

Ah, yes, therein lies the rub for many of us. We want things to improve—we want to manifest new and different things—and yet we continue to focus on what-is and think about what-is and talk about what-is.

Law of Attraction is very clear that focusing on what-is only continues to create more of the essence of what-is.

This means if you are looking at the little amount of money you have and talking about the little amount of money you have, then you will not find an improvement in your finances. You will continue to attract circumstances and conditions that match up to the vibration of those facts—the little amount of money you are looking at and talking about.

This wisdom is true regardless of the subject.

If you look and speak about lackful what-is—whether that be the relationship or job or health, whatever the subject—if you continue to focus on what-is, you will not experience an improvement. That defies Law of Attraction.

Instead…

“If you want to effect substantial change in your life experience, you must think thoughts that feel different as you think them.”

Said another way: You must feel different to effect a change and to feel different you have to first think different thoughts.

So let’s say you are thinking about your bills and feeling worry or thinking about your savings account and feeling disappointment or thinking about the raise you want and feeling doubt. Worry, disappointment, and doubt don’t feel good. Those emotions will only attract circumstances and conditions that match.

You will not get the substantial change in your life experience you are wanting. In other words, the thought-feeling combo of thinking about your bills and feeling worry is only attracting more of what-is.

Instead, you want to think different thoughts that feel different when you think them. As in, thoughts that feel good when you think them.

This likely means either taking your attention off something—like the bills—or being able to look at the bills and think better-feeling thoughts. Either way, you must think thoughts that feel different as you think them.

  • What thoughts about money and abundance would feel good to you?
  • What thoughts about your finances would feel good to you?

Those are super important questions to ask. Because your answer will help move you from lackful what-is thoughts that don’t feel good to thoughts that feel different as you think them.

“For awhile, the only evidence of your financial progress will be your improved emotional state of being, and if you will let that be enough—taking no score of financial progress–the financial improvement will show up.” —Abraham

The pre-LoA version of me would not have equated an improved emotional state of being—i.e., feeling good—with evidence of my financial progress.

But now, thankfully, I get the connection and understand how manifesting works.

It is my improved emotional state of being that attracts what I want—in all areas of my life. Which means feeling good is the first manifestation.

Often though, we get in our own way with this score-keeping business. This constant checking on progress. This round-the-clock focus on where we stand in relation to what we want.

Does that sound familiar?

Are you someone who is constantly taking score?

Rather than focusing on feeling good, are you monitoring and charting and tracking the progress of your desired manifestation? Because that, my friends, can really gunk up the manifesting.

“You see, when you are focused upon the desire for the money and taking score of the absence of the money, you are vibrationally defeating your own purpose.” —Abraham

Obviously you don’t want to defeat your own purpose. And yet many of us do just that because we are taking score and focusing on the continued absence of what we want.

For many of us, when we get control of the vibration we offer on the subject of money, a whole new world of leveraging Law of Attraction opens up.

“This important subject of money and financial success is not the ‘root of all evil’ as many have quoted—nor is it the path to happiness. So when you are able to successfully control something like the subject of money that affects most of you all day, every day, you will have accomplished something rather significant—for not only is it certain that your financial success must improve, but the evidence of that success will then prepare you for deliberate improvement in every aspect of your life experience.” —Abraham

Now, you might not say money is the root of all evil, but are you making money—or the lack of money— the “reason” for all your problems? For all your unhappiness?

Are you making the idea of money—having more of it, getting enough of it—are you making the idea of money the “reason” for all your future happiness?

Money is not everything that’s wrong. Money is not everything that’s right. And yet many of us are thinking about money in these ways.

We have made money one of the special subjects in our lives. We have made the subject of money a big deal—the getting of it, the having of it, the not getting our fair share of it, the not having enough of it. We have made money a touchy subject, a subject over which we often feel we don’t have control of the vibration we offer.

On the subject of money, too many of us have simply looked at what-is and felt either good or bad. So when the check comes in the mail, you feel good. When the bill comes in the mail, you feel bad.

But money is a subject like any other subject. It’s not different than any other area of life. And the way you manifest in this area is also no different.

Here’s the all-important question: Do you need a new story about your finances?

  • The Universe is responding to your thoughts and feelings about money.
  • The Universe is responding to your thoughts and feelings about abundance.

“If you can take the money out of the equation, and just put the emotion in the equation, now you’ve got it, you see. The money will follow.” —Abraham

While this post has been specifically about your finances, it’s not really about the subject itself. It’s about how you feel. This is always true.

You say, I will be happy when I get the raise. In the meantime, you worry about money. That is not taking money out of the equation. That is not being deliberate about thinking thoughts that create good-feeling emotions in you.

You say, Everyone I know is buying a new home and I can’t afford to, which is so discouraging. Again, that’s not taking money out of the equation. It is offering the vibration of discouragement, which is not what attracts abundance.

Taking money out of the equation and focusing on how you feel is all you need to do.

Because putting emotion in the equation is what creates the vibrational atmosphere to attract what you want. Feeling good is what causes the abundance to flow.

You can take money out of the equation by focusing on how you feel, and make feeling good a priority. This will be much easier when you stop doing a couple things. As in…

  • Stop focusing on what-is. Stop focusing on the facts of what-is. Stop focusing on lack.
  • Stop taking score. Stop launching a rocket of desire immediately followed by checking on the progress of your manifestation.

Telling a new story about your finances will be so much easier when you stop focusing on what-is and stop taking score.

Put feeling good front and center. Make how you feel your priority. That’s putting emotion in the equation. And then, enjoy your improved emotional state. Really enjoy it! Enjoy feeling better. Enjoy feeling good.

Before you know it, you will be enjoying the change in your life experience that matches your new story, your new feel-good state of being.
