Abundance & Well-Being: silver lining

We all have a choice when it comes to how we look at whatever is going on in our lives. The frame we put around it. The story we tell. The attitude we have.

Most of us have had the experience of going through something that at the time was unwanted and that we perceived as negative only to look back later and be able to see the silver lining.

But when you are in the midst of the unwanted, it can certainly be difficult to see that silver lining. When your what-is is not what you want, your focus may narrow to only what’s wrong, what you don’t like, what you don’t want. It can be tempting to stay within that frame, that storyline, that point of view.

It’s often only later when time has passed that you gain a different perspective. That you can see the upside or appreciate lessons learned. That you can see the Universe was, indeed, at work.

I’ve coached with a number of clients recently who are not feeling good about the particular season of life they are in.

Their stories are all different, but what they have in common is the way they are looking at this particular chapter of life has them feeling emotions in the middle or even at the low end of the emotional scale.

Feelings like frustration, impatience, disappointment. Feelings like discouragement, fear, despair.

They don’t yet have the perspective of a silver lining about what life is like today. And yet, each one has, indeed, had the experience of a shift in perspective when looking in the rearview mirror.

So this has me wondering: How can we tap into the vibration of a silver lining now—rather than having to wait for some time off in the distance? How can we look at the story of what is happening right now and have a more hopeful or uplifted perspective? How can we shift our point of view?

As always, Abraham has wise guidance. I’d like to share five quotes from Abraham that reflect a Law of Attraction point of view about perspective.

If you are going through a season of struggle or what-is is not what you want, perhaps these wise words will help.

Let’s begin.

“There will be a time, not so far from now, that you will look back on this phase of your life and instead of condemning it or beating up on it… Instead of blaming or guilting, you will feel appreciation for it, because you will understand that a renewed desire for life was born out of this time period that will bring you to physical heights that you could not have achieved without the contrast that gave birth to this desire.” —Abraham

As you know, I often call out a quote as being one of my favorites from Abraham, and this one is sure to make the short list.

Are you condemning this phase of your life? Are you beating up on the season that you are currently in? Are you blaming or guilting about something in your life right now?

If so, Abraham is offering you a different perspective. It’s the perspective that whatever you are going through is contrast, and that contrast is clarifying and sharpening and heightening your desire for something new, something different, something better.

Just imagine for a moment if you were to believe one day, some day, you will actually appreciate this now moment. Imagine if you truly embraced that this moment, right now, is giving birth to what’s coming. That all the contrast of this phase of your life is the very thing summoning what’s coming next for you.

If those words about this phase of life resonate—condemning it, beating up on it, blaming, guilting…if you are looking at your present reality and feeling those or similar low vibe emotions, Abraham is inviting you to look at your life through the lens of contrast—and to feel the relief and hope of that. By doing so, you can be assured that what you are experiencing now IS the pathway for something better.

“Everything begins moving in the direction of what has your attention.” —Abraham

This gives you another choice, another perspective, about how you look at what’s going on in your life.

Are you giving your attention to what you don’t like? Are you giving your attention to what you don’t want? Do you have a problem, and is that what you are focusing on?

Energy follows where your attention goes.

If you are focused on all that you don’t like about your what-is, then you are creating more of what-is.

It truly is amazing how fast the Universe can get flowing in the direction of what you want when you begin putting your attention on what you want. Not the lack of what you want. Not the absence of what you want. Not on what’s wrong or what you don’t like.

You have a choice about what you focus on. You have a choice about what you give your attention to. For an immediate shift in perspective and lift in your vibration, put your attention in the direction of what is wanted.

“Create in advance by pre-paving, more than trying to fix things that are broken.” —Abraham

Many times we are not creating what we want in advance with pre-paving. Many times we are very much trying to fix things that are broken. In fact, we are pre-paving on the frequency of broken.

Know this: You are always pre-paving with your thoughts. But how often are you pre-paving what you actually want?

It seems many of us are kind of fixated on what’s broken. Talking about what’s wrong, talking about problems, complaining about how things are. We just keep activating broken.

If your life today is not as you want it to be, Abraham is inviting you to shift your energy away from trying to fix things that are broken and tap into the deliberate creative energy of pre-paving what it is you do want.

Now, you might be asking, how do I know what I’m pre-paving? Well…

  • Are you expecting things you want or are you expecting things you don’t want?
  • Are you anticipating what you do want or are you worrying about what you don’t want?
  • Are you pre-paving with positive expectation and anticipation and solutions or are you pre-paving with worry and problems and complaints?

What if nothing is broken? What if you simply have an opportunity to create anew, create fresh from where you now stand?

I always feel such relief when I shift from thinking there’s something I need to fix to focusing on what it is I want to create.

No matter what your current situation is, no matter what the contrast is you are experiencing, you can decide to start pre-paving what you do want. Regardless of what-is, you have an opportunity to pivot your perspective to start creating what you want.

Know this: Whatever you are living in this moment does not dictate your future. You absolutely can create a new reality by pre-paving your future with positive expectation and anticipation.

“Your future is going to be like how you feel today.” —Abraham

Sometimes when I’ve shared this quote with a coaching client, her first reaction is Oh no, then my future is going to be awful because I’m feeling so fearful or guilty or angry or some other low vibe emotion.

I always encourage pausing, taking a deep breath, and using Abraham’s words as guidance. As a chance to reset. To choose a different direction.

You are creating your future right now with the vibration you are offering. But manifestations are not instant. There is a buffer of time.

So as you realize you are feeling negative emotion and as you recognize you are mis-creating by offering that vibration, it’s an opportunity to pivot and reach for the relief of better feeling thoughts.

What you are living today was created with your past thought-feeling combo. Your future is still being created. You have creative control over the future by choosing the direction of the energy you start offering today.

I find this perspective incredibly liberating. It’s empowering to realize your future will be very much like how you feel today because you can change how you feel today. You can redirect your thoughts to ones that allow you to feel better. You can start creating the future you want simply by raising your vibration today.

“Like the air you breathe, abundance in all things is available to you. Your life will simply be as good as you allow it to be.” —Abraham

This reminds me of an LoA concept that has always sparked such resonance in me, and that is there is always a stream of Well-Being that is flowing.

And it’s just a matter of whether I am allowing or resisting. Whether I’m heading downstream or upstream. Whether I’m relaxing or efforting. Whether I’m trusting or doubting. Whether I’m focused on what’s right or what’s wrong.

Imagine a world where you believe that like the air you breathe, abundance in all things is available to you.

And now imagine tapping into that abundance is simply a matter of allowing. Because that’s really what it comes down to.

Abundance is always available, and yet too many of us are not allowing our lives to be good. We have a list of conditions that must be met before we will declare, Yes, life is good.

  • We need a certain partner or amount of money in the bank.
  • We need to see a number on the scale or fit into a certain size pair of jeans.
  • We need a bigger house or a different job.
  • We need this person to stop doing that and that person to start doing this.

Conditions, conditions, conditions. Then, and only then, will we deem life is good. But all that conditional good is counter to what Abraham is saying—and, of course, counter to how Law of Attraction works.

Your life will simply be as good as you allow it to be.

So what if, today, you started allowing all the good? What if today you decided to believe in all the abundance available to you?

This post has been about perspective. Perspective is a choice. Think about the classic example of the glass half full or the glass half empty. It’s the same glass. It’s just a choice of perspective as to how you see it.

“The entire Universe is conspiring to give you everything that you want.” —Abraham

That is the perspective I do my best to adopt minute by minute, day by day. Because that point of view reminds me the Universe is friendly. That perspective makes me feel loved. It fills me with positive expectation and expands what I think is possible.
I shared five quotes with you and while Abraham was far more eloquent, let me remind you of these choices in perspective.

  • You can choose to appreciate the contrast.
  • You can choose the direction of your attention.
  • You can choose to pre-pave with positive expectation.
  • You can choose to feel your future now.
  • You can allow your life to be good now.

Will you make these choices? Will you choose to align with these perspectives? Will you choose the silver lining of now?
