When I think about all the women I’ve coached through the lens of Law of Attraction, split Energy is probably the most common way someone sabotages herself when it comes to manifesting.
Very simply: When you split your energy, you sabotage yourself. You make it harder to manifest what you want.
So if split Energy is going on for you—and you’ll soon know whether it is—you want to clean this up from your vibration.
I’ll talk first about the general concept of split Energy and then share four do’s and don’ts from Abraham on this topic.
A simple way to think about split Energy is when you have a thought about what you want and then counter it with a thought about what you don’t want. That contradiction splits the Energy.
The opposite, then, of split Energy is when you focus on a desire without any contradiction. When you stay on the side of what is wanted with your thoughts. When you stay on the side of what you like with your thoughts.
Let’s look a little more closely at what’s going on.
When you think about what you want, you offer a vibration. When you think about not getting what you want, you offer a vibration. Those two vibrations are very different.
There is a vibrational mismatch when you think about what you want and then think about what you don’t want.
Here are a few examples:
- When you think about the new job you want and then all the reasons you might not get it, that’s splitting Energy.
- When you think about the partner you want to find and then your next thoughts are about how hard it will be to find that person, you are splitting Energy.
- When you think about a dream you want to pursue, but then worry what your friends and family will think, you are splitting Energy.
- When you have the spark of an idea for a new service to offer in your business, and make a list of pros and cons, you are splitting Energy.
Many of us split Energy without even realizing it. In fact, some of us are so used to splitting Energy we’ve never considered there is an altogether different way that feels so much better and therefore makes manifesting so much easier.
When you flow energy to something wanted and then flow energy to something unwanted, you split Energy. Rather than flow all your energy to what is wanted—which makes your manifestation inevitable, this split Energy gets in the way of manifesting your desires.
That’s the general concept of split Energy.
To help shine a light on where split Energy might be showing up in your life, I want to share four examples of this vibrational contradiction.
This first one is about making decisions and aligning with them.
“Decide to do something and then do it. Do it because you want to. Do it because you decided you would. Don’t complain about doing it, while you are doing it. That is a contradiction. That is split Energy.” —Abraham
Here’s how this split of energy might look.
- You decide to downsize and then second guess your decision.
- You make the decision to attend the family reunion and then complain about going.
- You live in the confusion of indecision about something—as in you don’t decide.
“If we were standing in your physical shoes we would make more decisions in every day.” —Abraham
That’s because when you fail to make a decision, you live in the Energy of Should I do or shouldn’t I?, What should I do—I don’t know. It could be this or it could be that. Failing to make decisions is a classic example of split Energy.
Rather than split Energy, make more decisions and then align with the decisions you make.
Next up, I want to talk about split Energy and pros and cons.
“Focus only on the positive aspects of people and situations. Do not weigh the pros and the cons. That is contradiction. That is split Energy.” —Abraham
“The pro and con game is the deliberate game of splitting energy. What you want to do is find the pro and line up with it.” —Abraham
One way this split of energy might look is when you pull out a piece of paper and start making a list of pros and cons. Ding, ding, ding—that is classic split energy.
I used to be the master of the pros and cons list. I seriously thought this was a special skill I had. On any topic, I could make a long list of pros and cons.
Often that is how I tried to make decisions, hoping one column would be much longer than the other, giving me my answer. It was an agonizing process energetically because it was split Energy.
If you have an idea for something, rather than try to come up with things about the idea you don’t like or reasons it won’t work—that would be the list of cons—instead focus solely on the positive aspects. That is how you flow your Energy to what is wanted.
This next one is about a singular focus.
You’ll may relate to this one if you often experience the feeling of overwhelment.
“Choose something that is important to you and focus on that. One thing at a time. Do not try to think about many things at once. That is often contradiction. That is often split Energy.” —Abraham
Here’s how this split Energy might look: You look at your To Do list and there are many tasks. Rather than pick one task and focus your aligned Energy there, you sort of pick one, but think about the entire list, and then try to do two or three things at once, then maybe procrastinate and not do any at all.
That is split Energy.
Instead, Abraham says to: “Choose something that is important to you and focus on that. One thing at a time.”
Another way this type of split Energy can happen has to do with what’s referred to as “Shiny Object Syndrome.” Many of my entrepreneurial clients tell me they have experienced this.
Shiny Object Syndrome is the tendency for someone to chase something new, be it a new idea or trend or goal, rather than stay focused on what they’re doing.
There’s nothing wrong vibrationally with having many desires, many things you want, many things you are interested in. The problem vibrationally happens when someone is energetically distracted.
One client described it this way: She had always loved working on her Instagram account, which has been an integral part of her business growth. But now she’s noticing others in her same line of business all seem to be starting podcasts, and so she thinks she should be doing that too.
Now the energy she is giving her social media account feels distracted. It’s gone from a high vibe focused endeavor to a friction-filled, distracted one.
Can you say split Energy?
Next up, I want to talk about split Energy and minding your own business.
“Think about what you desire and think about why you want it. Spend no time trying to figure out what others want and why they want it, or what others do and why they do it. Your speculation about others is always incomplete and usually inaccurate. That introduces contradiction. That causes split Energy.” —Abraham
Here’s how this split of energy might look. When you factor in others—their opinions, their desires, their vantage point—when you factor in others, you split Energy.
When you think about what you want, your vibration is clean. Your vibration is in alignment with what you want.
However, when you factor in what your mother-in-law wants and your best friend thinks and your husband says, this is split Energy. You have introduced a contradiction in your vibration.
This type of split Energy is very common. Often someone will have a desire, and then immediately think about what others will think about their desire.
Really anytime you don’t mind your own business, you are splitting Energy.
This has been a big one for me. I used to split Energy this way all the time. Now I focus on what I want and why I want it. I no longer spend time looking at what others are doing.
This is especially true in my coaching practice. Formerly in my business I was always looking outside myself for what things to do and how to go about them. My focus was very often external.
Of course, even then part of me clearly had my own desires. Back then, though, before my obsession with all things Law of Attraction, I didn’t trust myself. I didn’t trust my own intuition or understand the support of the Universe. I didn’t know about split Energy.
So part of me would think about my desire and why I wanted it, and then the other part of me would focus externally on what others were doing and why they were doing it.
Happily, this is no longer the case! No more split Energy. Today I follow Abraham’s advice and think about what I desire and why I want it.
Perhaps you are someone who splits Energy on a regular basis. Or you might be someone who only splits Energy in one specific area of your life, like finances or relationships.
Whether you are a most-of-the-time Energy splitter or a subject-specific Energy splitter, you have a huge opportunity.
“When you no longer split your flow of energy with contradictory thoughts, you will know your power.” —Abraham
Your manifesting power—your power as a deliberate creator—comes when you no longer split your flow of Energy.
Here’s a recap of the four ways I shared to ensure you are not splitting Energy:
- Decide to do something and then do it.
- Focus only on the positive aspects of people and situations.
- Choose something that is important to you and focus on that.
- Think about what you desire and think about why you want it.
