Gunk of Low-Energy Living: patience-resistance
This post is about patience and manifesting. If you’ve been frustrated because your desire is taking a long time to manifest or if you often find yourself focused on the timing of what you want, this episode is for you.

Many of my coaching clients know that impatience, at #10 on the emotional scale, is not a great energy to be in to manifest with ease. And so it might seem like patience, on the other hand, would be better—would be a desirable energy.

That’s not really the case though.

Just as you don’t want impatience in your vibration, you really don’t want patience in your vibration either.

What the what?! That may not even sound like it makes any sense, so let me explain.

“Sometimes after waiting for a long time for something wanted to happen you tell yourself that you just need to be more patient. But you do not need patience when you understand the Laws of the Universe.” —Abraham

Perhaps you’ve had this experience. Where you’ve been waiting for something you want to manifest and waiting and waiting…and so you remind yourself to be patient?

In other words, you’re feeling impatience for what you want and you think the answer is more patience. While impatience is not the answer, more patience isn’t the answer either.

“You don’t have to be patient to be happy right now, you don’t have to be patient to be eager about what’s coming. You only need patience when you are in resistance. So we are not asking you to be patient, we are asking you to have knowledge that it is coming and to be happy for the journey that you are on the way to it. Because it was never about getting there anyway, it was always about the fun that you have.” —Abraham

Did you catch that? You only need patience when you are in resistance. Wow! This is a very different way to look at patience for many of us.

Let me share a couple examples of what this patience-resistance could look like.

  • You want to achieve a certain level of success in your business. You are so eager to reach this goal that you’ve been wanting for awhile. But on a day-to-day basis you don’t feel all that successful. You know you’ll feel so much better when you sign a certain number of clients and reach a particular amount of revenue. In the meantime, though, you feel restless for what you want. You feel anxious and kind of edgy. You worry at times it’s not going to happen. You are impatient to finally arrive at the level of success you imagine for yourself and you see others having. And so you remind yourself to be patient as you try to believe it’s coming.

Or here’s another example of patience-resistance:

  • You want to be in a committed, fulfilling relationship and are so tired of being single. You’re watching your friends get married and start families and feel sad and at times envious. You are in a vibrational holding pattern of the very thing you don’t want—remaining single. Resistance to what you don’t want has cemented the situation to you. You are anxious about what you want. Anxious in terms of wanting very much for it to happen now and anxious in the sense of worrying it won’t happen at all. Your vibration is one of unease. The journey you are on is one of unease. And so you remind yourself to be patient, believing that is what’s called for.

In both examples, trying to be patient is only causing friction in the vibration, which is undermines the point of attraction. You manifest what you are a vibrational match to, not necessarily what you want. if your vibration is patience-resistance, that is your point of attraction.

“What true patience is is knowing that you want it and knowing that it’s coming and actually enjoying the unfolding along the way.” —Abraham

In the two examples I shared, there is little to no enjoyment of the unfolding along the way. Quite the opposite actually. There is enduring the journey. There is wanting to fast forward to the desired destination.

When you don’t enjoy the journey, what’s usually going on is you think over there is better than where you are right now.

This is what I call the I’ll be happy when syndrome. As in…

  • I’ll be happy when I’m finally in a relationship, but in the meantime, I’m not enjoying being single.
  • I’ll be happy when I get the job I really want, but in the meantime, I’m not enjoying where I currently work.

Want the relationship! Want the job! Knowing you want those things is fantastic.

Most of us have that part down—the wanting. But it’s that next part that trips many of us up and introduces a bunch of friction in our vibration. That essential next part is: Know they are coming.

When you know what you want is coming, you can enjoy this present moment. You can enjoy the unfolding. You can enjoy the delicious feeling of anticipation for what you want.

“Be happy in anticipation of what’s coming.” —Abraham

If I boil down the formula Abraham gave us: True patience = know what you want + know it’s coming + enjoy the unfolding.

It is this high vibe version of patience that attracts the very things you want.

Stop trying to be patient and start being happy in anticipation of what’s coming.

When you are trying to be patient you are offering resistance. When you are happy in anticipation of what’s coming, you are allowing.

“The only reason you create impatience is because you think you need patience and you don’t. If you are enjoying every single moment of your life because you know every single moment of your life is there for a reason, then you won’t be waiting for something better to come along, and when you are not waiting for something better to come along, you don’t need to be patient.” —Bashar

Well, that’s mind expanding, isn’t it?

If you are enjoying every single moment, who needs patience? If you are enjoying the journey on your way to what you want, you don’t need patience.

It’s only when you are in the energy of tolerating this time between now and getting what you want that patience is required. But that energy of only tolerating the journey, that energy of suffering now as you wait for something better to come along, is the very energy of resistance that keeps what you want from manifesting.

Here’s another way to say it: If you are living in the energy of trying to be patient, you are only continuing to attract more conditions and circumstances on the same frequency. Which means you will encounter more in your life experience that matches up to this energy of trying to be patient.

Bottom line: The resistance of impatience and the resistance of trying to be patient lower your point of attraction, which then only makes it take longer to manifest what you are wanting.

“When people ask us how long does it take for something to manifest, we say, It takes as long as it takes you to release the resistance. Could be 30 years, could be 40 years, could be 50 years, could be a week. Could be tomorrow afternoon.” —Abraham

It takes as long as it takes you to release the resistance.

“You’re always, always, always going to be on your way to something more—always. And when you relax and accept that and stop beating up on yourself for not being someplace that you’re not, and instead, start embracing where you are while you keep your eye on where you’re going—now life becomes really, really, really fun.” —Abraham

This an invitation to develop a new mindset about manifesting. Specifically a new mindset that moves away from timing and deadlines and toward enjoying the unfolding.

I’m inviting you not only to shift away from the energy of impatience (why is it taking so long?), but also to shift away from the energy of thinking you need to be more patient.

  • Impatience about what you want is not the energy that will actually allow you to attract what you want.
  • At the same time, the energy of trying to be patient as you wait for what you want is also not an energy that allows you to receive what you want.

Bottom line: Impatience is bad for manifesting. And trying to be patient is bad for manifesting.

Abraham describes the alternative, the much better alternative this way:

“What’s the rush? Everything is coming to you. Don’t put an end date on everything. Just let the Universe yield it to you because if the path is a fun path, you don’t care how long it takes.” —Abraham

When it comes to things you want to manifest—whether it be achieving a goal or acquiring a shiny penny—know the way forward is to find the sweet spot of being genuinely okay with not getting what you want, being thoroughly happy with where you are currently standing, and in happy anticipation of what you want coming.

It’s about enjoying where you are now and enjoying where you want to go. There is no vibrational gap. There is no postponement of feeling good. There is no “over there”.

Yes, have the desire. Yes, want what you want. And feel just as good now as you will then. Which means there’s nothing to be patient or impatient about.

Patience/Impatience simply are not in the equation.

“Some things you’re not letting happen right now because the timing isn’t perfect for you. Some you’re not letting happen because you are very aware of where you are. But all things, as they are happening, are happening in perfect order. And if you will relax and begin saying, ‘Everything in its perfect time. Everything is unfolding. And I’m enjoying where I am now in relationship to where I’m going. Content where I am, and eager for more,’ that is the perfect vibrational stance.” —Abraham

  • Are you satisfied with what is and eager for more?
  • Are you enjoying the unfolding?
  • Are you feeling good now on your way to what you want?

Know this: When you put patience-resistance in the rearview mirror, you will achieve vibrational harmony with your desire—and your desire can manifest.
