I want you to think about a calendar. A calendar showing the days and months and years. A calendar showing the coming weeks ahead along with past weeks. A calendar that includes today.
And I want you to think about where on that calendar you are living.
- Are you living in the future? In tomorrow or next week or next month?
- Are you living at some point in time in the past?
- Are you living in sometime later today—in some block of time that is not, in fact, right now?
Or… are you living in today, in this present moment?
I’m noticing many of us are not living in the present moment. We are off somewhere in the future. We are living as if later is what’s important. We are trading our now moment for a later moment.
This is a very flawed premise when it comes to Law of Attraction.
Because now is where all your power is. And yet many of us are acting as if and living as if our power to create is later. As if our power to create is off somewhere in the future.
“Your life is right now! It’s not later! It’s not in that time of retirement. It’s not when the lover gets here. It’s not when you’ve moved into the new house. It’s not when you get the better job. Your life is right now. It will always be right now. You might as well decide to start enjoying your life right now, because it’s not ever going to get better than right now—until it gets better right now!” —Abraham
I especially perk up at the part at the end. Did you catch that? “It’s not ever going to get better than right now—until it gets better right now.”
It almost sounds like a riddle. But it’s really not. Abraham is saying, in essence, your future is going to be very much like you feel right now. In other words, the future can’t be better than now because now is creating your future.
Here’s the all-important question: Have you been waiting for the future you want in order to feel the way you want?
Have you been waiting for retirement or until you find a partner? Have you been waiting until you get the house or the job?
Those desires are all perfectly wonderful. What is not so wonderful is not living in the present moment. What is not so wonderful is not feeling particularly good in the present moment as you wait for those things you want.
Really take to heart what Abraham says: Life isn’t going to get better until it gets better right now.
Here’s my translation of that wisdom: Waiting to feel good until you get what you want is the very thing that keeps what you want from manifesting.
Or another way to say it: When you start enjoying the journey, you improve your point of attraction and more of what you want comes to you. You are able to manifest more of what you want more easily.
How can you feel good in the here and now if what-is is not exactly what you want? How do you feel good now if you’ve been an I’ll be happy when… kind of person? You know, I’ll be happy when I have more money, I’ll be happy when I wear the smaller jeans, I’ll be happy when my kids are older.
Well, there’s a remedy to the I’ll be happy when…syndrome.
“I live unconditionally, now. I’m happy, for no good reasons. And then, the reasons come! I’m confident, for no good reason! And then, the reasons come. I feel prosperous, with no good reason! And then, the prosperity comes!” —Abraham
Just think about what it would mean to live unconditionally in the present moment, and then then next present moment, and the next.
Think about how liberating it would be to make the decision to be happy now and enjoy today on your way to that glorious future you want.
Once again, Abraham makes the point that when you live unconditionally, when you are happy for no good reason, then the reasons come.
- This is about living in the now, in the present.
- This is about recognizing the future is going to be very much like the vibration you offer today.
- This is about claiming your vibration today—and intentionally claiming happiness—rather than using today’s circumstances as a reason to feel bad or thinking only sometime off in the future can you be happy.
“The NOW is where you blend with your Inner Being. There is no future. There is only now. Because you can’t think in the future, you can’t live or observe in the future. You’re only living in the now. We want you to feel and focus that now is all you have. It will make you stop worrying about getting old and it will help you no longer yearn for younger, skinnier times.” —Abraham
Of course, you may not be living in the future. Even so, you may not be living in the present. Well, what does that leave? The past.
Perhaps you are turning back the calendar pages and living in the past.
Even though the past is not happening now—just as the future is not happening now—if you are thinking about the past and activating the vibration of the past, then that is what you are creating more of in your here and now.
“It doesn’t matter what you thought or did a year ago, a week ago, a day ago or a minute ago. The Universe is only ever responding to what you are thinking and feeling now.” —Abraham
If you really allow this in, you will probably feel some relief. It’s a relief to realize what you thought or did in the past does not have to be part of what you are creating today, right now, in this moment. From a vibrational standpoint, you can be totally free of the past.
“Your life is happening now and is really represented by how you are feeling now.” —Abraham
Your life is happening now. It’s not happening in the past. It’s not happening in the future.
Now, perhaps it’s not the distant past that has been casting a vibrational shadow on the creating you are doing. Instead, maybe you are someone who can find yourself in a “bad” day and not be able to shake it. You get into the gunky middle of the emotional scale or even further down, and you feel trapped by the low vibration.
Know this: The Universe does not care how your day started. The Universe responds to the vibration you are offering right now. Which means you can start fresh right now, with a new thought-feeling combo that attracts what you really do want.
My point is to be willing to let go of the past, in all its forms. The distant past of years ago, the more recent past of months or weeks ago, and even the very near past of this morning or an hour ago. Your power to create is right now. It’s never in the past.
“If you’re not finding pleasure in the here and now you’re not doing it right—you’re bringing too much of the past or too much of the future into the now and you’re messing up your vibration.” —Abraham
Your life is right now. Your power to create is now.
It’s not in the future and it’s not in the past.
“Make up your mind that nothing is more important than how I feel now, because now is everything. Now is the whole enchilada. Now is the power of me. Now, now, now, now, now… You might as well start somewhere, and it might as well be now. Why not start improving your life now, now, now?” —Abraham
This is about improving how you feel now—in this present moment. It’s about a mindset shift from I’ll be happy when I achieve the goal or get the shiny penny, to I’ll be happy right here, right now—for no reason at all.
Rest assured: Feeling good now is, indeed, what paves the pathway to the goal and to the shiny penny you want.
“Where you now stand is a result of thoughts and feelings that you have offered before, but where you are going is a result of your perspective of where you now stand.” —Abraham
Really let that sink in. Your current reality is the result of past thoughts and feelings. That is absolutely OK and there’s nothing you need to do about any of what already is.
But where you are going and what you are creating next—that is happening right now. Where you are going will be determined by the vibration you are offering in this now moment.
“Your emotions are NOW. The way you feel is NOW. Your life is NOW. Direct your thoughts to improve your NOW moments, and the manifestations will take care of themselves.”
