What-is & Wanted vs. Unwanted: magnet

One of my favorite ways to think about Law of Attraction is this:

“The Law of Attraction is most understood when you see yourself as a magnet getting more and more of the way you feel.” —Abraham

I love the simplicity of this concept. I’m a magnet, attracting more of the way I feel. You are a magnet, attracting more of the way you feel.

So if right now you are feeling frustration and irritation, that’s what you are attracting more of. More circumstances, people, events, things, and situations into your life to feel frustrated and irritated about.

Now, on the other hand, if you are feeling love and appreciation, then that’s what you’re a magnet for. Love and appreciation are what you’re attracting.

Are you a magnet for what you want?

To answer that question, you only have to pay attention to how you feel.

How are you feeling right now? If you feel good, you’re attracting what you want. If you feel bad, you’re attracting what you don’t want. Because you are a magnet getting more and more of the way you feel.

  • This is why you could be looking at your vision board and thinking thinking thinking about what you want, but feeling doubt it won’t come and disappointment it hasn’t yet arrived…and so not manifesting what you want. When you look at your vision board and feel negative emotion, you’re a magnet. And it’s the negative emotion that is doing the attracting, not the vision board.
  • This is why you could be saying words that sound positive and upbeat, but inside you are feeling hurt and angry…and so not manifesting what you want. When you say positive-sounding affirmations, but feel negative emotion, you’re a magnet. And again it’s the negative emotion that is doing the attracting.

“Without exception, what you give thought to (wanted or unwanted), you begin to invite into your experience. See yourself as a magnet attracting unto you the essence of whatever you are thinking and feeling. For example, if you feel poor, you cannot attract prosperity. But that’s what so many of us are doing.

We’re walking around feeling one way and hoping and expecting and wanting to attract and receive something at a very different vibration.

  • When you are vibrating at the level of anger, you don’t attract joyful circumstances.
  • When you are vibrating at the level of powerlessness, you don’t attract situations into your life where you feel empowered.
  • When you are vibrating at the level of fear, you don’t attract things that would fill you with positive expectation.

Abraham says if you feel poor, you cannot attract prosperity. Because when you feel poor, you are simply not a magnet for prosperity. When you feel scarcity, you are not a magnet for abundance.

“You are a magnet. When you become a magnet of wealth, you attract wealth. When you become a magnet of health, you attract health. When you become a magnet of love, you attract love. When you become a magnet of joy, you attract joy. You must become the magnet of whatever it is you want, to bring it to you. Magnet comes first—manifestation is second. Manifestation is the effect of the magnet of you.” —The Secret Daily Teachings

Magnet comes first, manifestation is second.

And whatever you’re a magnet of is what you will attract, what you will create.

Now, here’s the thing: Just knowing you’re a magnet doesn’t really change anything. But it is incredibly useful when accompanied by awareness and acceptance. Let me explain what I mean.

You could have the knowledge that you’re a magnet getting more of the way you feel. But it’s what comes next that really matters and makes a difference. And what comes next, hopefully, is awareness and acceptance.

Awareness of how you are actually feeling and acceptance that how you feel is everything.

Let’s talk about awareness first.

If you don’t pay attention to how you feel, if you don’t notice your own Emotional Guidance System, then you won’t pivot when you are feeling negative emotion. That means you’ll continue mis-creating and attracting from the feeling-place of negative emotion.

You will be a magnet for all kinds of things you don’t want.

If you’re on autopilot and aren’t even really aware that you are feeling blame or doubt or some other low-vibe emotion, you won’t be able to take advantage of the opportunity that awareness offers.

Awareness of how you feel offers you an opportunity.

It offers you the opportunity to choose what you want to be a magnet of. Awareness of how you feel lets you know what you are giving, which, in turn, lets you know what you are in receiving mode for—which is more and more of the way you feel.

So awareness of how you are feeling is key to making use of the Law of Attraction principle: You are a magnet attracting more of the way you feel.

Equally important to awareness of how you feel is acceptance that how you feel is everything.

How you feel is so important because how you feel is your point of attraction.

  • Do you keep paying attention to things that make you feel bad?
  • Do you keep telling stories that create negative emotion?
  • Do you keep focusing on what-is when what-is causes you to feel low-vibe?

Too many of us are indulging in negative emotion and then wanting to believe it doesn’t really matter. Wanting to believe we can still manifest what we want despite the negative emotion.

That we can walk around complaining and blaming, focused on how the here and now isn’t the way we want it to be, worrying about what’s going to happen tomorrow, rehashing what happened yesterday… In other words, indulging in negative emotion

You are a magnet attracting more of the way you feel.

Which means indulging in negative emotion creates a point of attraction that will not manifest what you do want and will manifest what you don’t want.

You might tell me you accept the notion that how you feel is everything, is your point of attraction. You say you understand this; you know this.

But you aren’t really accepting it because you continue to indulge in negative emotion. You continue to be a magnet, attracting more of the way you feel—and the way you feel is low vibe.

If you truly accept how you feel is everything, you wouldn’t continue to indulge in negative emotion. You would accept that how you feel is the magnet for the manifestations that show up in your life.

Negative emotion is an invitation, an opening, an opportunity for you to pivot.

To choose a new thought. To turn your attention in a different direction. To heed what the negative emotion is telling you without indulging in it.

It’s time to stop attracting what you don’t want and start attracting what you do want. It’s time to become a magnet for what you really want to manifest.

“When you feel good, you will attract good. You are the magnet, and nothing of its own volition can come toward you. You are the attractor of all of it.” —Abraham

The other day I had a client question whether getting in alignment and feeling good and enjoying the journey would actually manifest what she wants. She was questioning what if I enjoy the journey and feel good all along the way, but what I want doesn’t ever manifest. I don’t reach the end goal. I don’t get the shiny penny.

That’s doubting or not understanding how Law of Attraction works.

It is only by getting in alignment, by feeling good, by enjoying the journey, that ultimately you arrive at the destination of your desired manifestation.

But I also chuckled a bit with my client because she was describing this very high-vibe journey and feeling good all along the way as if that were not a reward unto itself, as if that were not something to really appreciate.

I even asked her: Would that be so terrible? You enjoy every single delicious moment of the journey, every day is basking in the glow of feeling good. Isn’t that—the feeling good part—what you are really after?

Just imagine enjoying the heck out of every single day. Of feeling elevated emotions. Of experiencing the ease of being in flow and taking inspired action that feels good to take. Of heading downstream and feeling really good at every step, point, place along the journey.

Don’t you think that would be the ultimate manifestation?

I think it is.

It’s been a real paradigm shift for me, personally, to go from this narrow, myopic focus on arriving at some desired destination to realizing and embracing that enjoying the journey along the way is the greatest gift I can ever give myself.

“If you pay the price of happiness, the manifestation will come. We promise.” —Abraham

That’s what I believe. So I don’t think it’s either/or.

I don’t think it’s enjoy the journey but not get the manifestation.

But I also don’t think there’s any point to getting a manifestation if the journey there is a slog and feels lousy.

Let me return to the quote I opened with: “The Law of Attraction is most understood when you see yourself as a magnet getting more and more of the way you feel.” —Abraham

If you’re not enjoying the journey on the way to whatever goal you’re trying to achieve or shiny penny you’re wanting to acquire, then that’s what you are a magnet for.

  • You are a magnet for more of a slog and struggle along the journey.
  • You are a magnet for all the friction that comes with doing it the hard way and trying to make what you want happen.
  • You are a magnet for always waiting for someday off in the future to be happy.

And believe me, my friend, that is not what you want to be a magnet for.

“I recognize that I am unlimited in all facets of my life. For I know I am a magnet; and I attract whatever level of prosperity, health, and relationships I choose.” —Law of Attraction Cards

You are unlimited in all the facets of your life. Because you are a magnet.

If you’re not thrilled about what-is, then forget about what you’ve attracted up to now. It doesn’t matter. It doesn’t have anything to do with what you can and will attract from this moment on—unless you continue to be a magnet for it. Unless you keep reactivating the vibration of what is unwanted or the lack of what is wanted.

When you truly see yourself as a magnet attracting more and more of how you feel, you are way less willing to indulge in negative emotion. You are unwilling to focus on what you don’t like and don’t want.

You recognize the creative power of feeling good.

Hear this loud and clear: You are a magnet.

It’s time to be a conscious, deliberate, intentional magnet for what you want.

  • Practice awareness of how you are feeling.
  • Accept that how you feel is your point of attraction.

By bringing your mind back to the present moment you can choose to feel better. You can be a magnet for what you really want.
