Start, Stop & Change: expectation

“There is an unlimited Stream of Well-Being and an abundance of all manner of things available to you at all times—but you must be in alignment with the receiving of those things. You cannot stand in resistance of them and receive them at the same time.” —Abraham

I like the simplicity of thinking about manifesting in this way. On one end is resistance. On the other end is receiving. With this in mind, I can gently ask myself: Am I in resistance mode or am I in receiving mode?

We all know receiving mode is where we want to be, right?

You want to be in receiving mode for the abundance and Well-Being that is available to you.

Of course, knowing receiving mode is where you want to be versus actually being in receiving mode are two different things.

So how do you get in receiving mode? How do you allow the Well-Being that flows and is yours? And how can you even be sure you are in receiving mode?

“…you will come to understand that to the degree you feel blessed and expect good things to flow to you, this indicates the level of your state of allowing; and to the degree that you do not feel blessed, where you do not expect good things to come to you, this indicates your degree of resistance.” —Abraham

I want to shine a light on that one part: “expect good things to flow to you”. Do you expect good things to flow to you?

Expecting good things is being in receiving mode. It’s alignment, it’s allowing.

Positive expectation is #4 on the emotional scale, so it’s a lovely, high vibe emotion. When I think about my favorite emotions to experience—of all the good things I could feel—positive expectation is definitely up there at the top of the list. It just feels so wonderful to positively expect.

“The Universe is abundant with everything that you want. It’s not testing you. It’s benevolently providing for you. But you are the orchestrater. You are the definer, and you do it though your joyous anticipation. If there is an emotion that you are wanting to foster, that would serve you very, very well, it is positive expectation. It is excited anticipation.” —Abraham

Positive expectation. Excited anticipation. Do you live in these vibrations, expecting good things to flow to you?

Think about what you want in your life.

The love and happy relationships, the health and wellness, the engagement and fulfillment, the prosperity, the fun. Think about that new job you are wanting or the new house. Think about the joy in your relationship you desire or the success in your business.

Are you in a state of positive expectation about what you want? Are you feeling excited anticipation about your desires?

Many of us are not.

  • We are wanting, but we are not feeling positive expectation about what we desire.
  • We are wanting, but we are not necessarily expecting good things to flow.

Or perhaps you are experiencing more of a mix: There are some desires you are feeling positive expectation about and then others you are not.

I have a friend who grew up in a family where they didn’t really expect good things. They were not filled with positive expectation. They downplayed their desires. They prepared for the worst in case it happened.

My friend says she was taught if you didn’t expect, then you wouldn’t be disappointed. That to have big desires was only setting yourself up for failure.

Of course, Law of Attraction has a lot to say with this outlook on life.

If your vibration is one of bracing for disappointment, then circumstances and conditions will line up accordingly. You will experience disappointment. If you prepare for the worst, you are pre-paving the worst.

Now, as an adult, my friend chooses differently. She chooses to prepare for the best. She chooses to expect good things. She chooses to bask in her desires, knowing they will manifest.

I share all that to say regardless of your past experience with positive expectation, regardless of how you were raised or what was modeled for you, it is your choice now whether to align with positive expectation.

You always have a choice as to the thoughts you think. And it is your thoughts that create the feeling of positive expectation within you.

Let’s return to that question I asked earlier: Do you expect good things to flow to you?

If your answer is Yes, absolutely! that’s fantastic. If you expect good things to flow to you, you are in receiving mode. You are allowing what you want to manifest. You are in alignment with your desires, with abundance, with Well-Being.

But what if your answer is Not really or Not always?

Perhaps you have been living in a vibration of not expecting good things to flow. Of doubting your desires will manifest. Of worrying you won’t get what you want. Of feeling disappointment that what you want hasn’t yet manifested.

Doubt and worry and disappointment are a very different energy than the energy of expecting good things to flow to you.

If you are not all that familiar with the vibration of positive expectation, I invite you to intentionally develop a relationship with this vibration. I invite you to cultivate positive expectation.

If that sounds like something you’d be interested in, you might be asking How? How do I cultivate the vibration of positive expectation? How do I expect good things to flow?

The advice I want to share is at once so simple and so elegant. And very likely it is something you already know to do.

“When you make a decision to look for positive aspects in the experience that is unfolding right now, you will create an expectation that will allow an immediate manifesting of evidence to support that vibrational shift. In other words, the more you look for positive aspects of your current life, the more positive aspects will step forward to reveal themselves to you.” —Abraham

In other words, the way you expect good things to flow to you is to start looking for positive aspects in your current experience.

  • Commuting to work. Look for positive aspects.
  • The offer on the house wasn’t accept. Look for positive aspects.
  • You have a new boss at work. Look for positive aspects.
  • Cleaning the bathroom. Look for positive aspects.

Make a decision to look for positive aspects.

Notice this advice doesn’t say wait until all your ducks are in a row and then look for positive aspects. It doesn’t say wait until everything is just as you want it to be and then look for positive aspects.

It says to make a decision to look for positive aspects in the experience that is unfolding right now.

“As you gradually train your own thoughts into those of positive expectation, as you align with thoughts of worthiness and Well-Being, as you align with your true power by seeking good-feeling thoughts—you will no longer offer resistance to your own abundance.” —Abraham

The key takeaway there for me is “gradually train your thoughts”. You absolutely can gradually train your thoughts into those of positive expectation.

Gradually could mean one thought at a time. It could mean over time.

I choose to think of this gradual training of my thoughts in a very high vibe way. Training my thoughts is the work. Training myself in the direction of positive aspects and positive expectation is the work.

And it’s happy work. It’s not hard or something to do begrudgingly.

I invite you to look at this practice—this gradual training of your thoughts—in this same high vibe way.

When you do this thought work, when you look for positive aspects and gradually train your thoughts, you can offer your vibration on purpose. And when you do this, manifesting what you want becomes something you do with ease.

“It won’t be long before you will have maintained a steady vibrational pattern of positive expectation and the yield from that crop is unspeakable.” —Abraham

That sounds pretty delightful, doesn’t it?

The yield is unspeakable because when you have maintained a steady vibrational pattern of positive expectation, then what flows into your life experience will be a match. Another way to say it: When you offer a vibration of positive expectation, you attract circumstances and conditions, people and events, situations and things that match up.

Expect good things to flow to you. Positive expectation feels so good—and what you attract from this vibration will be pleasing to you.
