Let’s start with a little Law of Attraction 101: This is from The Astonishing Power of Emotions: Let Your Feelings Be Your Guide:
“The Law of Attraction simply and accurately reflects back to you in a myriad of ways an accurate response to your vibrational output. In short, whatever is happening to you is a perfect Vibrational Match to the current vibration of your Being—and the emotions that are present within you indicate that vibrational state of Being.”
There’s a lot of good stuff in there, so let’s break it down.
The Law of Attraction reflects back to you circumstances, events, situations, people, opportunities, things that match your vibrational output. A simple way to think of this: You receive what you give.
You are giving with your vibration and you are receiving things that match up.
Then the second part that’s important to understand answers the question: Well, where is that vibration coming from that I’m offering? It is what I’m doing? What I’m saying? What I’m thinking?
Your vibrational output—your vibration—is coming from how you are feeling. Those emotions are coming from your thoughts. From the thoughts in your head and the thoughts you speak aloud. Because your thoughts create your feelings.
What are the emotions within you? What are you feeling?
Because by your answer, you will know the vibration you are offering.
“The only thing that matters is what you are doing right now in your vibration. And you can tell what you are doing in your vibration right now by the way you feel.” —Abraham
The reason Abraham says the only thing that matters is what you are doing right now in your vibration is because your only power to create is in the present moment. So in the present moment, you are creating, you are attracting, based on the vibration you are offering.
- Do you feel good right now? Are you experiencing positive emotion? Then the vibration you are offering is attracting what you want.
- Do you feel bad right now? Are you experiencing negative emotion? Because that means you are attracting something you do not want, something that will not please you.
There are, of course, many flavors of feeling good and many flavors of feeling bad.
But the exact emotion you are experiencing right now is not as important as simply whether you feel good or bad.
So let’s apply this to your own vibration: Do you feel good in this present moment or do you feel bad?
“When you’re vibrating purely, you get only what’s a match to that. It’s your ambivalence: ‘I like that but I don’t like that… I like that but I don’t like that…’ that keeps what you like and what you don’t like coming at you all the time. You don’t have to ‘turn the other cheek’ when you are in vibrational harmony with what you want. Then, only what you want comes.” —Abraham
This is so useful to help us understand why we are often getting some of what we want, but also some of what we don’t want. This is the LoA principle at work that keeps both what you like and what you don’t like coming to you.
I think of this as splitting your energy, splitting your vibration.
It’s amazing how often we are all doing this. We start a sentence focused on what we want and like and then we say “but” and negate everything we’ve just said.
Imagine you go up to a chalkboard and you write what you want. Something you are really wanting to manifest—your dream home, the fulfilling new job, more time to spend with your family, money in your bank account. Whatever it is you are wanting, you write your desire on the chalkboard.
And then, what do you do? You pick up the eraser and you erase what you wrote. That’s what you are doing when you include in your vibrational mix what you like and want right along with what you don’t like and don’t want.
“Focus on what you want without activating the vibration of the absence of it.” —Abraham
Ambivalence, which is having mixed feelings or contradictory ideas about something, is not your friend. You don’t want to be ambivalent.
You don’t want to have a desire and then contradict your own desire.
Instead, you want to like what you like, want what you want—and stay focused there. There is no reason to give any of your attention to what you don’t like and don’t want. There is no payoff for contradicting your own desire.
Abraham says when you are vibrating purely, you will receive only what is a match. I really can’t think of anything more motivating to clean up your vibration and stop with the but I don’t want, but I don’t like…
Let’s apply this to your own vibration: Are you offering a pure vibration focused on what you want and like or are you mixing don’t want and don’t like into your vibration?
“The Universe doesn’t hear what you are saying. It feels the vibration you are offering.” —Abraham
We humans say a lot of words. And often the words we say don’t match up with how we really feel.
I witness this often in coaching sessions. A client will be saying all the positive-sounding words, but then admit that how she feels doesn’t match up.
For instance, a client tells me, I’m going to get out of bed each day and really focus on the positive in my life. When I ask how she feels saying that, her response is: I feel discouraged.
My client doesn’t feel positive. She is feeling discouraged, and so the words she is saying—as great sounding as they are, are not a match to the vibration she is offering.
The Universe responds to her vibration of discouragement, not the positive-sounding words she is saying.
So I could hand you a list of positive affirmations and you could repeat them all day long. But all those words, even the very best sounding ones, are not what the Universe is responding to.
The Universe is only responding to your vibration. Your vibration is how you are feeling. Plain and simple.
Now, I’m not suggesting you don’t say positive-sounding things. But focusing on what you say more than how you feel is putting the proverbial cart before the horse.
What’s important is getting yourself in a good-feeling place. When you do that, what you say will match up. Then the thoughts in your head, the words you say, and the way you feel will be in harmony.
What you think about activates a vibration in you.
That’s why it’s so important to manage your mind, to guide your thoughts to those that feel good to you—because how you feel—that vibration you’re offering—is your point of attraction.
Let’s apply this to your own vibration: Are you saying positive-sounding words, but your feelings don’t match up?
“You can’t move beyond the existing conditions, you can’t improve beyond what-is, if what-is is all you’ve got going on in your vibration.” —Abraham
I think most of us have an opportunity with this one to clean up our vibration.
- You want more money in your bank account and your bank statement shows it’s not there.
- You want to feel healthy and robust, and instead you are sluggish and sedentary.
- You want a fun, connected, loving relationship with your partner, and instead it’s tense, disconnected, and anything but fun.
- You want to look in the mirror and feel good, and instead you dread getting dressed every morning because you don’t feel good in any of your clothes—or your body for that matter.
Those are all examples of what-is. I would say: So what? So what about what-is.
Those are only the conditions you created with the vibration you’ve offered in the past. But what if you start offering a different vibration today? A vibration that will attract your desired conditions.
But when you are focused on what-is, on your present reality, and it’s not the way you want it to be, then you stay stuck in those existing conditions.
Bottom line: You have to get your attention off what-is and offer a different vibration if you want to attract different circumstances, different conditions.
Abraham sums up perfectly one way you can do this: “The less you talk about it, the less it will be active in your vibration.”
Too many of us are walking around talking about and complaining about what-is as if that is the path to changing it. It’s not.
When you keep your focus on what-is—with your thoughts, maybe you’re journaling about it, chatting with a girlfriend, complaining to your co-workers about it…all of that is working against you. All that is keeping you vibrationally locked in place.
So if you don’t like your present conditions, stop talking about them. Get your attention off them.
Your feelings are letting you know the vibration you are offering.
And your feelings will guide you to better-feeling thoughts so that you can be a vibrational match to all your desires.
“As you think, you vibrate. And it is your vibrational offering that equals your point of attraction. So what you are thinking and what is coming back to you is always a vibrational match.” —Abraham
I invite you to tend to your vibration.
Because your vibration is really everything when it comes to being a deliberate creator.
So how can you tend to your vibration? I have three tips to guide you.
- First, simply start noticing the vibration you are offering. You do this by asking yourself: Am I feeling good or am I feeling bad? Just that tells you a ton about the vibration you are offering to which the Law of Attraction is responding.
- Second, practice unconditional alignment. Don’t wait for circumstances and conditions to line up the way you want in order to feel good. That is conditional alignment and the vibration you offer when you do that is choppy at best. It will be a mixed vibration, which means you will get some of what you want and perhaps a lot of what you don’t. When your alignment is conditional, you lock in, so to speak, a lot of your what-is.
- Third, make feeling good your #1 priority. Feeling good should be at the top of your To Do list. Feeling good should be your way of life, not an afterthought when you get everything done, take care of everyone else, reach all your goals. If you’re an entrepreneur, feeling good should be your business strategy.
Notice your vibration. Practice unconditional alignment. Prioritize feeling good. That’s it. Tending to your vibration—raising your vibration—really doesn’t need to be more complicated than that.
