That sounds pretty good, doesn’t it?

In fact, Abrahams says, “Appreciation is the magic formula you’ve been seeking.”

I want to talk about a Rampage of Appreciation and the biggest blindspot I’ve been noticing when it comes to appreciation.

I’ll warn you: You may like what I have to say about a Rampage of Appreciation, but you may not be so thrilled with what I have to say about the blindspot. Because I think it’s going to sound all too familiar.

The Law of Attraction is always responding to your thoughts.

Which means deliberately focusing your thoughts on positive aspects, on what you appreciate, is how to attract what you want into your life.

When you’re in a state of appreciation, there’s no resistance. Which means you are in a perfect state for manifesting.

I’ll say that in a slightly different way: By appreciating, you are allowing what you want to manifest into your life experience.

I can’t think of anything more win-win: Because to appreciate feels good and it allows what you want to manifest.

Let’s talk about what a Rampage of Appreciation is and why you should use it.

Abraham talks a lot about appreciation in general, but this is a specific process called a Rampage of Appreciation. It’s from the book, Ask and It Is Given, and it’s the first of 22 processes designed to help you improve your point of attraction.

It does this by helping you raise your vibrational frequency, release your resistance, and improve how you feel. And all of that works to improve your emotional set-point. So a Rampage of Appreciation is so powerful!

I think the best reason to practice a Rampage of Appreciation is simply to orient you toward a positive way of looking at your world. It’s a great way to focus your awareness on positive aspects.

The Rampage of Appreciation process will be of most value when you’re feeling somewhere between joy and optimism on the emotional scale.

In other words, if you’re feeling Joy, Knowledge, Empowerment, Freedom, Love, Appreciation, Passion, Enthusiasm, Eagerness, Happiness, Positive Expectation, Belief, or Optimism, this is a good process for you.

If you’re feeling a lower-range emotion, then a Rampage of Appreciation isn’t a good fit. Here’s why: When you’re feeling an emotion lower down the scale, you don’t have access to feelings of appreciation.

If you’re feeling grief or depression, you don’t have access to feelings of appreciation. Or let’s not go quite so far down the scale. Even when you’re hanging out in the middle of the emotional scale, at doubt and worry, you don’t have access to feelings of appreciation.

In fact, trying to practice appreciation in those moments is likely to just make you feel more friction. Which means, as we’ve talked about in other episodes, you have to reach for better-feeling thoughts to move up the emotional scale.

Once you’ve moved up between Joy and Optimism, you can go on a Rampage of Appreciation.

Here’s all you do: You can do a Rampage of Appreciation in your head or you can write your thoughts on paper. Either way will work. Just look around your immediate surroundings and notice something you like—something that pleases you. Then you hold your attention on whatever that pleasing thing is.

By doing this, you’ll notice an improved feeling. By appreciating something you’ll actually appreciate how good it feels. Then look around and notice something else that pleases you. And your improved feeling will continue to expand.

Keep this in mind: You’re looking for things that already easily please you.

You’re not looking for things you don’t like and then trying to appreciate them. That is not a Rampage of Appreciation.

Your appreciation should come easily and flow. And it will if you focus your attention on things that feel good to you.

Here’s what’s really cool about practicing a Rampage of Appreciation on a regular basis. You start to practice a vibration that has less resistance in it. The more you find to appreciate, the better it feels. And the better it feels, the more you want to do it.

So doing a Rampage of Appreciation creates a powerful momentum of positive thoughts and feelings. It’s very high vibe.

And because of how Law of Attraction works, as you focus on those initial things that feel good and as you appreciate them, it gets easier and easier to find other things to appreciate. Like attracts like.

It’s recommended you set aside 10–15 minutes each day to do a Rampage of Appreciation. That’s what I do every morning.

I might notice and appreciate: The smell of my perfume, morning coffee, ease of doing laundry, Gerber daisies, laughter, a love note from Hans, feeling inspired, the skyline, fridge full of groceries, and so on and so on.

After you do a Rampage of Appreciation for a few days in a row, you’ll find you actually start doing it in your head throughout your day. It’s a fantastic, feel-good way to focus your awareness on things that feel good.

When you look for things to appreciate—whether in a defined Rampage of Appreciation session or just moments here and there throughout your day—the act of appreciating gives you control of your own vibrational offering.

Which means you have control over your point of attraction. Which means you have control over what you’re attracting. And that’s what you want!

“Once you have made a decision that nothing is more important than that you feel good, and you have decided that you are going to consciously look for some things to appreciate today, the object of your attention has now become the feeling of appreciation. You have now established a circuit between you and that object of appreciation that the Law of Attraction will begin working on immediately, so you will start seeing more things to appreciate right away.” —Ask and It Is Given

The blindspot when it comes to appreciation.

I think a lot of us feel like if we’re able to look out at our lives and appreciate—appreciate others, appreciate things about our job, about our relationships, appreciate things in our home and community, we feel like we’ve got this appreciation thing down.

Yeah, sure, we could appreciate even more than we do, but we’ve got it! We understand how Law of Attraction works—like attracts like. We understand to deliberately create our lives, we need to keep our focus and attention on positive aspects. We need to look for what we want to see.

Many of us feel like we have a pretty robust appreciation practice. Are you raising your hand?

Because here’s my question to you: What about self-appreciation? Where are you in terms of practicing self-love?

Because many of my clients are pretty darn good at the appreciation of others, of external things. But they are lousy when it comes to self-love, self-appreciation.

They are constantly putting themselves down.

  • Why did I say that?
  • My hair looks so bad today.
  • I can’t believe I ate that.
  • I’ve gotten so frumpy.
  • I don’t deserve it.
  • I should have gotten more done.
  • Why aren’t I further along?
  • My arms are flabby.
  • I’m not worth it.
  • I wouldn’t be very good at that.
  • I never follow through.
  • Why can’t I keep up?

Like I said—lousy when it comes to self-love and self-appreciation. There’s an endless stream of negative chatter in their heads.

Negative self-talk is NOT appreciation.

Negative self-talk reflects self-loathing. And self-loathing is a kind of hatred.

Well, hatred is way down at the bottom of the emotional scale. Appreciation is way up at the top.

So, let me boil that down: Being negative to and about yourself is not in the vicinity of appreciation.

“Self-love is what you’re reaching for, and if you don’t take the time to find self-love, then you can’t possibly find the state of allowing, because that’s the basis of your point of attraction.” —Abraham

Here’s the truth, plain and simple: A lot us talk to ourselves in ways we would never, ever talk to another human being.

  • When’s the last time you said to your girlfriend: Your arms are really flabby.
  • Or when did you last tell your child: You can’t do anything right.

I’m guessing these are not things you say to other people.

But we somehow think it’s OK when these mean, unhelpful, ultra-critical, negative things are self-directed.

It’s not OK. You cannot practice appreciation and exclude yourself. It just doesn’t work. You will still have a huge amount of resistance in your vibration.

Appreciation and self-love.

So you can sing the praises all you want of everyone and everything around you. Fantastic!

But if you leave YOU out of the equation, then that, my friend, is not a robust appreciation practice. And you will see and feel the limitations of that in what you’re able to manifest.

“We want you to practice your joyful, self-loving point of attraction. We want you to love yourself into the stratosphere.” —Abraham

I don’t care if negative self-talk has been your history your entire life. It does not have to be your future.

But first, you have to accept—even embrace—this concept: Appreciation is the purest vibration there is and your practice of appreciation has to include yourself.

Anything else brings to my mind that saying about putting lipstick on a pig. You know that one, right?

Because if you’re walking around appreciating your family and job and stuff…but dissing yourself, well, that is putting lipstick on a pig. And it’s a really flawed appreciation practice.

Start noticing the thoughts you have about yourself that you would never say to another person. If you wouldn’t say it to someone else, then stop saying it to yourself.

More than that—more than just stopping the flow of negativity—is to start the flow of positivity toward yourself. A robust appreciation practice means you’re going to stop things that smack of self-hatred and start things that reflect self-love.

I’ve been talking about negative self-talk, but self-love and self-appreciation are, of course, more than just what you say to yourself. This is about how you treat yourself.

It’s simple things like: Do you rest when you’re tired? Do you eat when you’re hungry? Are you on your own To Do list?

“Appreciation of others and the appreciation of yourself are the closest vibrational matches to Source Energy of anything we have ever witnessed anywhere in this Universe.” —Abraham

Notice it didn’t say appreciation of others and throwing yourself repeatedly under the bus. No, Abraham says appreciation of others and appreciation of yourself. They are inextricably linked.

  • It’s time to replace negative self-talk with encouragement and kindness.
  • It’s time to start treating yourself with love and appreciation.

“From a place of self-appreciation, you will attract all sorts of wonderful things. From a centered place of loving yourself, you will allow all wonderful things to come unto you.” —Abraham
